EXPLANATION OF THE GOOD GUY AWARD

The Good Guy Open is named after the original Good Guy Brooks Becker. The tournament has two purposes. Raise money for individuals/families battling cancer and to recognize the Good Guys in our lives,( guys like Brooks ) while they are still walking this earth with us.

Some of us are lucky enough to meet a Good Guy in our lifetime but rarely do we tell them how much they are appreciated. The tournament shines a light on the Good Guys in our lives because Good Guys aren't the kind of people to "toot their own horn".

Each year we recognize a Good Guy with a Good Guy Award plaque. The plaque simply reads:
"Presented to ____________, Good Guy".
The insignia shows the three most important things to the typical Good Guy,
1. Family
2. Faith
3. Community

A Good Guy's family is the most important part of a Good Guy's life. Everything he does is for his family.

His faith is his source of inspiration. It's not necessarily where he spends his Sunday mornings, it's how he treats people every day.

That brings us to community. Good Guys are involved. They volunteer for charities, they help you move, they coach little league. They are everyone's friend.

The plaque also says…Excelsi Regunt - Loosely translated, that's Latin for "Good Guys Rule".

In small letters, at the bottom of the insignia are three small B's. They stand for Brooks Bernard Becker, the original Good Guy.

Please take a look at the resumes of the Good Guys we have recognized in the past. Then take a look at the Good Guy Open Toast. If you are lucky enough to have a Good Guy in your life that you think fits our criteria, we would love to hear about him. Click here and it will give you instructions on how to do that. We select only one recipient a year and will notify you if your nomination was chosen.

To the guys that never completely "grow up". Because "grownups" can be a little boring sometimes

To the guys who know right from wrong and will remind you of it when need be

To the guys who look out for the people that most other people ignore

To the guys who make our lives better by simply being around them

To the guys who don't do things "half-assed". Who give you their best at home, work, and play

To the guys who you'll miss when they are gone

To the "Good Guys" who participate in the Good Guy Open. Keep striving to be as good of a guy as you can be.

HOW TO NOMINATE SOMEONE TO RECEIVE THE GOOD GUY AWARD

Cheryl Stephens, who is the chair of the Good Guy award, will get back to you on whether the person you nominated will be the recipient. WHAT THE WINNER OF THE GOOD GUY AWARD RECEIVES

In addition to receiving a Good Guy plaque, the Good Guy also receives a Good Guy golf shirt and a lifetime invitation to the Good Guy Open that includes free golf and dinner as a way to thank them for being who they are.
